Seniors 2012 Leave a Legacy
Tuesday, March 20, 2012

The tradition of leaving a legacy continues.  The senior class of 2011 volunteered by helping the Greene County Tornado victims.  This year the seniors have decided to participate in Samaritan's Feet.    Please visit their site to donate and learn more about their mission.

As seniors, we want to leave a lasting legacy at the Greeneville High School. That's why we have decided to partner with Samaritan's Feet. Samaritan’s Feet was started in 2003 to put 10 million pairs of shoes on children’s feet in 10 years around the world. They serve the impoverished in over 62 countries around the world, including right here in the US. To date, they have placed new shoes and new socks on the feet of more than 3.5 million children.

Being a part of Samaritan's Feet gives all of us an opportunity to serve others. Having our fellow students, student government and student-athletes taking part in the mission of Samaritan's Feet is very rewarding and serves as a reminder to all of us how fortunate we are to have the simple things in life such as a pair of shoes.

Over the next couple of months, we will be conducting a few events to help raise $10,000 for Samaritan's Feet, which will provide 1,000 pairs of shoes in Tennessee and around the world. Samaritan's Feet models servant leadership by washing the feet and providing a new pair of socks and shoes to impoverished children worldwide. That's why we have decided to help Samaritan's Feet and their “Barefoot for Bare Feet” movement. We are joining thousands of other people, to use our platform to provide a voice for the 300,000,000 million children who wake every day in their bare feet.

We are hoping that these events will become annual events for our students to participate in to serve as an example that will lead our community to live a life of service.

Become a part of the movement. As more of us stand together, the impact will continue to grow and more children will be given hope.
