Hi! My name is Dr. Morton. I teach eleventh-grade English and AP Language and Composition. I love teaching at GHS; the students (and their families), the faculty, and the administration have all been wonderful to work with, and this has reassured me that my move to high school was an inspired one. Before this, I had taught college courses for 17 years, including 10 years as a full faculty member at Tusculum College, where I taught British Literature and directed the writing program. My educational background is primarily in English, with a bachelors degree from Willamette University (Salem, OR), a masters in early British literature from Brigham Young University (Provo, UT), a second masters in education from Tusculum College (right here in Greeneville, TN), and a Ph.D. in eighteenth-century British Literature from Illinois State University (Normal, IL). I also studied for two semesters (not consecutive) in London, and lived for a couple of years in the Philippines doing volunteer service work. I love travel (I've been to 46 states and 26 countries), board games (my collection is at approximately 500 games), and these rascals you see in the picture below (my spouse Charlie, and children Lincoln and Cecilia). My favorite punctuation mark is apparently the parenthesis. And of course, I love teaching and working with students!
