Bio

My name is Robert Zimmerman, more commonly known as "Mr. Z" by my students.  I am currently beginning my 31st year of teaching and I enjoy teaching students about history and geography and how it is relavant to their world and lives.

I am from Madison County in North Carolina, which adjoins Greene County to the south and east.  I have a strong connection to Greeneville in that I was born at Takoma Hospital (like my six siblings, me being the youngest).  I grew up on a farm where we raised tobacco, hay, and cattle, selling our tobacco every year on the Greeneville market.  My parents were teachers and instilled in our family a strong sense of the value and importance of education.  I am a stong advocate of public education and its ability to provide access to a quality education and preparation for a career and lifelong learning.

I am married to my wonderful and beautiful wife, Erica Curtis.  We have 3 children, Ben, Anna, and Jenna.  We also have a dog and 2 cats.  We love to garden, farm, read, travel, sleep, eat good food, and hang out with friends.  I am a fan of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, even when its not always fun to watch.  Go Reds!!!!
