After careful thought and deliberation among system, school, and health officials, the decision has been made that the Greeneville High School commencement ceremony originally scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2020 has been rescheduled to Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 10 AM.
We hope this date will allow enough time for restrictions to be lifted and allow a traditional graduation ceremony to be held. If not, alternative plans to honor our graduates on the same date and time are being organized. Based on restrictions in place at the time along with data and guidance from state and local public health officials, a decision will be made on July 20 regarding the type of ceremony to be held.
While this is not the way we had planned to celebrate our graduates, we believe the delayed graduation date will allow a greater opportunity to honor the Class of 2020 and recognize this milestone in the lives of students and families.
Additionally, a Virtual Senior Showcase program will be broadcast/livestreamed on Thursday, May 21 and a GHS Senior Banquet is being planned for Thursday, July 30 if health restrictions in place at that time allow. Details will be shared in the coming days about both these events.
